Prague chess tournaments, month by month 41

The Prague year has a few large fixtures: the Prague International Chess Festival at the end of winter, the Prague Open in January and its summer counterpart in August, and the Zlatá Praha festival in June, run from Karlín. The Prague Chess Federation adds its own championships for individuals, teams and young players, including a four-player team rapid.

Below them sits a dense layer of club series. ŠK Loko plays its Putovní kůň on autumn Wednesdays, TJ Kobylisy has a Friday blitz and a rapid series, Bohemians a blitz for a towel, OAZA and the PORG school youth rapids in Krč. Memorials keep names of Prague chess alive, the Prague 5 district office hosts tournaments for children, seniors and families, and the Staropramen brewery hosts a team blitz each spring.
